My original furniture designs range from the traditional to contemporary. I use the time-honored joinery techniques of the pegged mortise and tenon and hand-made dovetails. Each piece of furniture is finished with a hand-rubbed mixture of oil, varnish, and wax to enhance the natural wood tones and to insure durability.
I have worked as a professional cabinetmaker since 1978. My training includes The Fundamentals of Fine Woodworking at the North Bennet Street School, hand-dovetailing at Ian Kirby Studios, the study of American furniture and its English antecedents, and 30 years of hands on learning while repairing, designing and building furniture.
My furniture has been exhibited at craft shows throughout New England, featured in Yankee Magazine and shown in Bob Vila's Home Again TV series.

Woodworking classes: I started teaching furniture making at the Eliot School of Fine and Applied Arts in Jamaica Plains in Boston in the late 1980's. I now teach aspiring woodworkers in my Quechee, Vermont shop. My classes are limited to 4 students. I also give private lessons. My emphasis is on hand joinery, in particular the hand-cut dovetail.
